19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an improved serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

He saved four early chances in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
