Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by a single point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
